Correct ProFlex Whirlpool Noise or Vibrating

Sometimes a ProFlex whirlpool may seem to make excessive noise or vibration. Refer to the troubleshooting information below to identify and correct potential issues.

Verify that this is a Kohler whirlpool. The whirlpool will have a model number and serial number located on the motor/pump assembly. Visit "Identifying Your Bath or Whirlpool Model" for more information on locating the model number.

Motor / Pump Could Be Cavitating

Probable Cause

  • For proper operation there must be at 2" of water above the suction cover of the whirlpool. If the suction cover is not completely covered with water, the pump will cavitate causing excessive noise.

  • Ensure the motor / pump are installed on the Kohler supplied pump stand and the band straps are cut.

Motor / Pump is Not Resting on Sub-Floor

Probable Cause

  • The noise level could be caused by the motor mount bracket vibrating and hitting the sub-floor when the whirlpool is operating. Visually check to determine if the band straps and motor pump are resting on the sub-floor.

Motor or Pump is Vibrating

Probable Cause

  • Although components and assemblies are tested before leaving Kohler manufacturing facilities, harsh handling and shipping can result in damaged components.

  • Placing your hand on the motor or the pump will give you an indication of excessive vibration.
