Katun Faucet Stream Breaker Removal

The following directions provide information on removing the stream breaker, or aerator, for the Katun bathroom faucet, models K-R78037-4D-, K-R78038-4D-, and K-R78039-4D-**. The stream breaker is the internal “grid” piece at the end of the faucet spout.

Removal of the stream breaker may be necessary to clean any hard water build up. Clean the stream breaker with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water.

Tools Needed:

  • Hex key wrench

  • Small needle nose pliers or tweezers

Use the hex key tool to remove the set screw

Use the needle nose pliers or tweezers to grip in between the “grid” squares of the stream breaker and pull straight down/out. Optional for Centerset or Single-Control faucets: use Stream Breaker Removal Tool, part number 1118166 (sold separately)

The stream breaker includes two plastic screens that sit up in the spout body and should come out when the stream breaker comes out . If they don't come out, use the needle nose pliers or tweezers to remove them

Clean the stream breaker with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water

To reinstall, align the stream breaker hole with the set screw and tighten the set screw until flush with the spout
