Replace the Valve in a Single Handle Faucet

Follow the steps in the video or the written step-by-step guide below to install a new valve in a single control faucet

Note: The faucet number featured below is the K-10412 Forte Kitchen Faucet. The replacement valve is GP1016515.

1

Turn off the water to the faucet

2

Remove the plug button from the handle

3

Loosen the screw underneath the plug button to remove the handle

4

Unscrew the bonnet counterclockwise to expose the valve and the mounting nut; the bonnet should remove easily by hand

5

With a large adjustable wrench, loosen the mounting nut, counterclockwise, to expose the valve

6

Remove the valve from the valve body (the base on which the valve sits)

7

Install the new valve

The new valve will only fit in the faucet in one direction. In the valve body, make note of the two depressions in the metal. Line up the pegs on the bottom of the new valve with the depressions.

8

Once the new valve is in place, reinstall the mounting nut

Turn clockwise until the nut is hand tight. Then, turn the nut 1/4 to 1/2 turn past what you were able to do with your hands

9

Before reinstalling the handle, turn the water on to check for leaks

10

Once you have checked for leaks, reinstall the remaining parts
